How many sessions will I need?
This will depend on you and what it is that you have sought hypnotherapy for. We will be able to get a better picture during our initial consultation. Results are often achieved quickly, usually within around 8 to 12 sessions. Smoking cessation is a one off session.
I thought hypnotherapy was just to stop bad habits or phobias?
Hypnotherapy is extremely effective for a whole range of symptoms. We combine neuroscience with psychotherapy techniques, as well as hypnosis.
Can I get stuck in hypnosis?
Absolutely not! It is a completely natural state, like daydreaming. Unfortunately stage hypnotists and film makers have created this misconception but it is not possible to get stuck in trance.
Do I have to talk about past traumatic events?
No. One of the fantastic things that separates solution focused therapy from others is the fact that we do not make you relive anything traumatic. We focus on where you want to be and your preferred future, rather than any negativities. It is a positive and uplifting therapy experience and extremely effective.
Will I be made to do something I don't want to?
Absolutely not. Solution focused hypnotherapy is extremely safe and you cannot say or do anything you have no control of, both in and out of trance. Believe it or not, even in stage hypnosis, people are completely aware of what they are doing!
What is trance? It sounds scary!
Trance is just another word for hypnosis. It is a relaxed, but focused state, similar to daydreaming.
Will I be able to be hypnotised?
All hypnosis is self hypnosis - if you want to go in to trance, you absolutely will.
Can I drive after my session?
Absolutely! You will feel refreshed and relaxed after your session, so fully capable of driving.
